Groundbreaking and Kick-off of Public Fundraising

Half of the $2.6 million needed for project has already been raised

We’re on our way! The Baldwin Library officially launches renovation of the Leland Center as its new home on June 8 at 10 am! At the same time, we are kicking off public fundraising to help raise the approximately $1.3 million we still need to complete the project.

More than $1.3 million has already been raised, which includes major support from the state, county and Baldwin Borough, support from charitable foundations, individuals and businesses. We are so grateful for the support the community has shown so far!

We are calling our fundraising effort Dream • Build • Thrive because we think it represents the essence of our shared goals for the community. We have received a lot of suggestions from library patrons, businesses and community members telling us what they want the library to be all about. Together, we have a dream for our community library: now we must come together to build it so that we can all thrive!

Our fundraising is being led by co-chairs Paul Hayhurst and Candace Seymour, and they are supported by members of the library’s board of trustees and other community volunteers. We need gifts of all sizes from individuals, businesses and community organizations, and we are encouraging supporters to make pledges, rather than out-of-pocket gifts, which can be paid out over three years.

All donors have the option of selecting naming opportunities, and the “Buy a Brick” program is an excellent way for supporters to make an additional gift to the project.
