The Baldwin Library will be renovating and relocating to Leland Center, with projected move-in anticipated in early 2019! 

The new Baldwin Library will feature:

  • Easily accessible borough location with convenient access to public transportation
  • Increase of 2,100 square feet compared to Wallace Building
  • Ample parking—both off-street and on-street with designated handicapped spaces
  • Large, flexible meeting space for library programs and community activities
  • Separate areas for adults, teens and children
  • Expanded mobile computer stations and new digital lending materials

FAQs About the Project: 

Q: Why is the library moving?
A: The library is simply running out of space. Annual visits to the library have increased by 56% since 2010, and program attendance has risen by more than 72%. Every year more than 54,000 books and other materials are checked out by visitors and the library’s collection now has more than 25,000 items.

Q: When will the library relocate to the Leland Center?
A: Anticipated move-in is early in 2019.

Q: Will the library on Macek Drive remain open until it relocates to the Leland Center?
A: Yes! The library will remain open with its normal operating hours until the project is completed.

Pittsburgh, PA August 14, 2017– Baldwin Borough Public Library has been awarded a $100,000 Community Infrastructure and Tourism Fund (CITF) grant from the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County in support of the renovation of Baldwin’s Leland Center building into a new community library.
