New Ways to Discover Your Next Read!

Our library collection an abundance of materials, with many books continually added. It can be difficult to keep up with all of these new books at the library. Now there’s a number of great ways to receive notifications when new books are added and allows you to customize what type of alerts you receive.

These are great tools that are easy to use, which just allows you to sign up with your email address, this way you can receive alerts right to your inbox!

Here are the different new book email alerts you can receive:

  • Select Reads: Pre-populated book lists and newsletters by genre, subject, age group and format. You can sign up to receive monthly email newsletters or just access the lists! For example, if you are only interested in what new Science books get added to the county-wide collection you can select that list. There are a number of different categories to choose from including: audiobooks, politics, juvenile books and many more. Additionally there are various lists that are created that can help you find something new. Some on the site currently include: Pittsburgh Born, Pittsburgh Bred; Best Books for Babies 2015; Around the World in 35 Books!
  • New Book Alerts: The New Book Alerts is a great tool if you are only interested in the newest titles add to the collection. This will give you an email of everything to the county-wide collection, not just specific categories.
  • AuthorCheck: Love a specific author? You can sign up and receive an email notification whenever a new title by your favorite author is added.

All of these different tools have a link to the catalog, so you can see if the book you want is in the library or you can place a hold on it through your account right through the online catalog.
