Teens: Ready to Rock 2016

Yesterday, I received an email asking if there was a Winter Reading Club for Teens. As I replied that we do indeed have a children, teen, and adult Winter Reading Club, it led me to feel the need to get the great word out about teens and teen services available at our library.

We have a core group of 21 teen volunteers who give of their time and talents, mostly during the summer months but many of them throughout the school year as well.  You will find them assisting with programs, often times after-hours, preparing crafts, shelving books or lending a hand wherever needed.

In addition to our Winter Reading Club running through March 31, we have many great programs planned for teens in grades 6-12: Teen Drama Club, Babysitting Training, Teen Movie Night, an Anti-Valentine Party, Discover 3D Printing, and our Teen Lit and Lattes monthly nights, where we meet at Crazy Mocha on Brownsville Road to reconnect with friends, have a hot beverage, unwind, and hear about the latest in new teen books which will be available for take-home reading.

We also have plenty of room for additional teen volunteers and have a Teen Advisory Board as well, two great opportunities for teens to take advantage of and which go a long way on upcoming or future college resumes and applications.  For dates and details of events and services, please visit the Teen page on our website, or feel free to email me at any time at colarosad@einetwork.net.
