  • You will need to have a mobile device to call the library when you arrive.
  • All holds will be put in a paper bag and be placed on a table outside of the building. Your bag will be labeled with your last name. Remain in your car until the staff member is safely in the library.
  • Grab your bag and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Browse the FAQs below for more detailed information about Curbside Pickup Service, or call us at 412-885-2255.

What if I have mobility issues and cannot leave my vehicle?
If you need extra assistance, we will gladly provide an accommodation. Please let us know what you need when you call.
How do I know if a book is available?
Call us at 412-885-2255 for assistance. As long as the material is available at Baldwin, we will put it on hold for you to pick-up.

Do I need a library card to use pick-up service?

Yes, patrons must have a library card to use curbside pickup. If you do not have a regular library card, we can create one for you. Call the library and our staff will walk you through the process.  When you come to pick-up your items, staff will place your new library card in the bag with your materials.

What if I don't have a car, can I still use the pick-up service?

Yes!  When you arrive, please stay in the designated waiting area and call the Library. When you call the phone number, you will need to have your library card number ready.  Please do not approach the pickup service table until staff is safely back in the library.

How do I return materials?
Use the outdoor book return at the front of the building. Please do not attempt to return items on the pickup service table.  This will cause confusion for other patrons and staff.

All returned items will be in “quarantine” for up to 72 hours after return.  You will see items still on your account during this time.  Please be patient. All items will be backdated to original due date.

Baldwin Library is a fine free library. You will not get charged any fines for overdue materials.

What are you doing to protect the safety of patrons and library staff?

The  pickup model we are using provides maximum social distancing for the safety of our patrons and our staff. Staff will use face coverings in accordance with State workplace safety policy and CDC guidelines. The pickup service table will be sanitized regularly. Anyone picking up materials must wear a mask.

Patrons and staff should not approach one another and respect the need for social distancing. This may feel uncomfortable but is necessary to provide a safe, contact-less pickup service. If you notice patrons at the pickup table, please remain in your vehicle until the previous patron has departed.

The library has done everything in our power to reduce risk in the circulation of items.

Why are you using paper bags for pickup items?

Paper bags are a safety measure to protect patron privacy, protect physical materials, and limit unnecessary contact. Bags also help us separate materials to avoid the need for patrons to sort through items on the pickup service table.
